Mission is revealing to others their fundamental beauty, value and importance in the universe, their capacity to love, to grow and to do beautiful things and to meet God. Mission is transmitting to people a new inner freedom and hope; it is unlocking the doors of their being so that new energies can flow; it is taking away from their shoulders the terrible yoke of fear and guilt. To give life to people is to reveal to them that they are loved just as they are by God, with the mixture of good and evil, light and darkness that is in them: that the stone in front of their tomb in which all the dirt of their lives has been hidden, can be rolled away. They are forgiven; they can live in freedom.

May 2008 an email landed in my inbox.
Hey Naomi
Just to let you know we will be putting the coffee shop on the market soon. We are not looking to sell quickly but we’d like to find the right people to carry on business. I thought you and the girls would be great people to take on the business, so I thought I’d offer it to you, or to see if you know anyone that is responsible and ambitious to take things over. We love the coffee shop but it has always been our dream to live in Mexico, so back in January we bought a small property and will be building a house as soon as we sell the shop.
If you are interested, let me know and we can talk further. If not, please be discreet about the fact that we’re selling ,even though you may have already heard. Because if we decide not to sell, we don’t want to scare our customers away.
Hope all is well, take care,
K
Student of Coffee @ Shaky Monkey Coffee Co.
For a year we had been building links with this coffee shop (Shaky Monkey) in the sleepy suburb of Walnut Grove, drinking coffee and hiring the venue out once a month for a youth open mic night. At the same time unknown to many Christy & Jenn had been dreaming and drawing up a business plan for a desert/arts cafe and was looking for a venue.
A month later they took possesion of the Shaky Monkey Coffee Shop. Part 1 of the story.
